august break 2014

DAY FIVE – THREE

20140807-101321-36801075.jpgI am up early to catch the first ferry off the island with Nic and we share a taxi to the airport. He leaves for wellington and i fly to napier soon after. I am there to visit my girlfriend Carol and go see the six photos I am currently exhibiting at the Photographers Gallery.

Entitled Distant Echoes, these are three of the six pieces I have chosen for this exhibition. The photos are a mixture of medium format and polaroid monochrome prints, all of them a collection of myth and artefact from our time living in the UK.

I am surprised and delighted to see my work hanging in the same space as NZ photography legend Craig Potton. Whilst I know my work is good, and true, and a product of my heart, my ego gets a little boost by this discovery.

I am grateful for the moments of my life that have led me to this magic.

i have contributed to, and am participating in, susannah’s august break: a month to take a rest from words and just share photos – no pressure, no rules, just free daily prompts via email with a fun community of people joining in.
