thanksgiving

As I write over at Gypsy Girls Guide today about having stuff, I am saddened by the mining tragedy that has rocked my homeland, New Zealand.

Miners at Pike River and their families are not to have the same happy ending as that of the Chilean miners; a second explosion down in the mines means there is no hope of survival for the 29 miners trapped underground.

It seems dreadfully shallow of me writing about what to do about my stuff when there are families in New Zealand who will not be together this Christmas. I can’t even begin to imagine what life must be like for them right now.

So, as I sit down today with friends in Santa Barbara and Hermosa Beach, to celebrate thanksgiving, I will be thankful for all I have in my life. And I will be sending my love and prayers home to New Zealand.

Friends in the USA, please will you remember the friends and families of the miners, as you celebrate Thanksgiving with your loved ones today?

And friends around the world, please will you do the same?

With love, and gratitude,
Leonie

i thank You God for most this amazing
day:for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky;and for everything
wich is natural which is infinite which is yes

(i who have died am alive again today,
and this is the sun’s birthday;this is the birth
day of life and love and wings:and of the gay
great happening illimitably earth)

how should tasting touching hearing seeing
breathing any-lifted from the no
of all nothing-human merely being
doubt unimaginable You?

(now the ears of my ears awake and
now the eyes of my eyes are opened)
