the past week in books
started // a manual for cleaning women. recommended by nic’s mum and a distant cousin of his, i’ve just picked this up today and only read one short story so far. evocative writing that draws me into the story.
finished // the kindness of your nature. i found this in a charity shop on the island a couple of weeks ago. it’s the second book i’ve read from this author. i love her writing style and the particular harmony of this author’s writing captivates me. i hope she writes some more books for the world to enjoy.
purchased // the cuba street project. bought in wellington when we were there last saturday, this book is a celebration of past and present cuba street. a fascinating look at the diverse community that makes up one of wellington’s most loved streets. full of stories and recipes and history, this book is a really entertaining read. we’ve decided we’re going to make all the recipes in here – and today nic started with the tiramisu. can’t say i loved it, but it was tasty enough for me to finish most of what was in my glass.
