the weekend that was

a long one: beginning on friday morning, road-tripping with friends to a beach house on the coromandel peninsula + sea breezes and sunshine coming in wide open doors + punctuated in the middle by violent storms + hummingbird cake + a soak in the hot pools at the lost spring + cold swims in the ocean

prawn tostadas, fish curry & super cheesy lasagne + cheese platters + hot buttered rum + birdsong, day and night + the radiant light of the early dawn + a night sky blanketed in starlight + kumarahou in bloom + rural landscapes seen from the back seat of the car + unstable unicorns

weaving putiputi + limoncello ricotta puffs + planning more adventures together + quilts, warding off the evening chill to keep the doors open... just a little longer + beach walks (always beach walks) + a pod of dolphins in the hauraki gulf, accompanying us on the final part of our journey home this afternoon
