Five things to be inspired by this Monday

1 // self care is often doing the ugliest thing that you have to do

It often means looking your failures and disappointments square in the eye and re-strategizing. It is not satiating your immediate desires. It is letting go. It is choosing new. 2 // nature as art

Gorgeous ephemeral sculptures by James Brunt

3 // what if you didn’t give up?

4 // delicious vegetarian cooking

… like the recipes by Deborah Madison in her book entitled In my kitchen: A collection of new and favorite vegetarian recipes. The photography is stunning and every single recipe has me salivating.

I am particularly keen to try the savoy cabbage, leek, and mushroom on toast with horseradish cream for breakfast one morning and the green lentils with yoghurt, sorrel and parsley sauce for dinner.

  • What a wonderful view! Where is it? Surely not little old Waiheke? (Mind you, Waiheke will always be to me dirt roads and tiny baches hunched lonely on dark stormy beaches with whales swimming like black ghosts in the bay. It has changed somewhat since then.)

    • It is rather glorious isnt it! I am in Wellington at a friends house. It’s hard to focus in work with this out the window though!
Yeah Waiheke has changed a lot. Probably loads since it was as you describe it here. Even in the past four years life on the island has experienced subtle shifts. x

      • I thought it was Wellington! There’s a feeling about those hills that is really quite unforgettable.
