percy

we have a lot of different birds in our neighbourhood; from common sparrows to noisy native parrots. our newest arrival is a fine feathered chap we call percy, because apparently this is the name of all male pheasants*.
last week, when sitting on the sofa, i saw a flurry of brown wings and raced outside as i thought one of the local kākā had crash landed.
nope.
percy.

he'd apparently decided that landing on the roof of our studio was a good idea.
i have no idea what was going on that tiny bird brain. pretty sure it was either:
- nothing, or
- how on earth do i get myself down from here?!

the very ungraceful — but very entertaining — dismount
either way, he wandered back and forth for a bit before diving headfirst to the ground with his wings flapping. no points at all for grace, but plenty for entertainment value.
hopefully percy finds a mate and we get more of them visiting our gardens.
*percy was also my father's middle name and he was also very handsome. and he was also infinitely smarter
