the weekend that was

waking up friday morning with a scratchy throat and panicing mildly about it being covid (it wasn’t) + wild writing + splitting half a locally made pastry and having coffee out with nic during an urban foraging trip for pizza ingredients + contemplating laundry + staring competition with my reflection whilst lighting the fire + lemon, ginger and manuka tea

rain + home made bone broth + a late-afternoon sauna punctuated by dunking myself in the sea + home made pizza (chicken, mushroom, rose harissa, rocket for me. pulled beef, mushroom, horseradish, rocket for nic), washed down with a glass of little darling pinot noir + a slow and low energy one, with a soundtrack of persistent cough + on guard + a few episodes of interior design masters (i am a little bit in love with rita millat) + planning a night out in august for a girlfriend’s 50th and contemplating staying in the city overnight + booking theatre tickets for tuesday (and hoping i am well enough to go!)

made me look
- loving these paintings of water women by sonia alins (and this one especially). thanks to anna brones for the link
- and i can get behind this business plan. also found via anna
- this mango slaw noodles with peanut sauce, edamame & herbs recipe has my interest (though i’d swap the mango for avocado and make cashew sauce instead)
- an infinite number of thank-yous to the always delightful pip lincolne for the consistently brilliant content and for introducing me to marion grasby’s delicious sounding recipes. i want to make them all.
- putting all the books from the women’s prize for fiction shortlist on my reading list
- something beautiful for the world (video series)
