parāoa parai (fry bread) in the making

matariki rising + the winter solstice

kūmara cake / loaf (since i don’t own a cake tin)

honouring matariki by baking christall lowe’s kūmara cake with orange toffee sauce (served warm with vanilla ice-cream) + parāoa parai (fry bread), using the same recipe on this tea towel designed by maimoa creative (found via here.for.it) + which made so much, we gave some to our neighbours and my mother-in-law, whose visit was timed perfectly to eat them hot and fresh out of the pan, unapologetically dressed with butter and golden syrup

parāoa parai (fry bread) dough

joining friends for one last meal at tokki before the team closed the doors to go off on some amazing-sounding adventures + arguing over which was our favourite dish (i am team eggplant all the way) + sea swims, a saturday sauna and a soak in the spa + candle, fire and star light + where paper met flame, releasing what no longer serves me.
