historically found mostly on the outer islands of nz, due to predation, we’re so happy to see that kaka (one of our native parrots) have also been making waiheke island their home over the past few years.

these big beautiful parrots are noisy and sociable + we very often hear them, warbling to themselves (or each other) in the trees, or screeching and whistling to each other as they pass overhead.
