it’s the colder seasons. get crafty about leaving the house. never mind the plans you made—change them. put on your swimsuit, consider getting a warmer post-swim jacket. remember to have fun.

quieting the noise

familiar face

there is a person from my recent-ish past who has reemerged with a different relevance in my present. observing them online and from afar with minute glimpses into the face they present to the world. observing my own responses to what i see online and noticing how those responses have changed over time

addition by subtraction

i've never had much of a skincare routine and the term "anti-ageing" makes me shudder. i've adopted pro-ageing as my philosophy instead and have devised a minimal system for this type of self-care that suits my disorganised morning+evening routines. it consists of only five things:

downtempo

when we go to the beach, we swim, we rinse off, we come home. we often do this with other outings too, almost clinically—as if ticking something off a to-do list. recently, on a trip to the mainland, we sat, watching the world go by for a while in between one thing and the next. it reminded me of how much i rush, even when i have the luxury of time on my side.
